Lately, the Coronavirus has been creeping into our lives. Every aspect of our life has changed. We have to be more cautious about our health. Here are 7 tips to stay healthy during the Coronavirus.

Washing your hands

Although we tend to overlook simple hygiene actions, I cannot stress enough how crucial it is to wash your hands. You should wash your hands for 20 seconds or as long as you sing happy birthday twice. Trust me, 20 seconds of handwashing is longer than you think.

Taking a shower

Now before you get confused, I know we all take showers. It's when you take a shower or how many times you take a shower that changes. If you have recently been around a few people, or you go to work during this crisis, I would recommend showering after you come home to act as a precaution. The logic behind this is that when you go out, you never know what germs you encounter, so it is better to take a shower if you have been around people in the public.

Wearing a mask outside

Again, wearing a face mask is a precaution. It is better to be safe than sorry. Wearing some sort of mace covering will help to prevent spreading through the mouth. Since the coronavirus has been depleting hospitals of their supplies, I would recommend making your mask or wearing a covering such as a bandana. You can find a tutorial for making your face mask.

Staying six feet apart

Staying six feet apart, or at least away from other people will help you stay safe during this pandemic. Spit particles can travel for six feet, and this is why it is important to distance yourself from others (social distancing).

Try to stay inside

You should try to stay inside as much as possible. You never know where the virus might be lurking, but in your own home, you would likely know if you had COVID-19 if you stay at home.

Don't wear gloves outside

This might come as a surprise to some people, but wear rubber gloves will not prevent you from getting the coronavirus. Since COVID-19 is a respiratory virus, it is mainly transmitted through spit particles. The virus cannot linger on the skin for long. Wearing gloves is unnecessary and it is better to wear a mask.

Don't panic

Panicking only increases your chances of getting sick. You should try to stay healthy and have a healthy mindset. Don't unnecessarily panic and buy everything you can find at the store, it hurts other people who need to buy essentials from the store. If we all calm down, we can get through this together.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
