Ah, summer. Each May, college students pack up the lives we've established at our respective schools for a new adventure in our hometown. The prospect can be quite boring, given that we have no set obligations for the next four months - until we create them. Summer is essentially a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure: we can sit on the beach for hours, work a job, or take a class - whatever is best to satisfy our current needs. The options are endless. Here, the Parks & Rec cast will illuminate the possibilities of these four months at home in order to ensure that your summer will be as boredom-free as possible.
1. Get an internship, so you have some experience and can (maybe) get hired upon graduation.
2. Get a job. Try your hand at waiting tables. Maybe make enough tips to get you out of the mountains of debt lurking after graduation.
3. On top of that job, why not take a class?
4. Or, avoid the prospect of leaving school for another month and take a Maymester.
5. Get together with your high school friends to reminisce and find out where everyone is now.
6. Get caught up on politics and world issues. Maybe even post an opinionated Facebook status, if that's your thing.
7. Take a tour around a local (or distant) city.
8. Pull an all-nighter being non-productive. Watch Netflix for days, or do whatever your heart desires.
9. Go shopping. Blow your money on clothes, bath bombs, what have you. Just do it.
10. Join a gym and start a workout routine.
11. Learn to cook a new meal. You're an adult now, right?
12. Go on a diet, realize you miss your favorite foods, and break that diet.
13. Take care of your emotional and mental health. Take baths, journal, or take some quiet time. Do what you need to tend to your emotional needs.
14. Splurge a little to see your favorite celebrity in person.
15. Spend some time with your family. Learn about your heritage, and hear relative's stories of your ancestors.
16. Hang out with your best girl friends from home.
17. Make some extra cash by babysitting.
18. Reconnect with your best friend from home, and remember how easy it is to be with them.
There you have it. 18 ways on how to have a fun, productive, and enjoyable summer. Take these tips to heart, and don't be Chris Traeger:
