Football season, you will be missed

How To Spend Saturdays Without Game Day

Unfortunately, folks, our favorite season has come to an end. That's right, football season is over. After a full semester of exciting Saturdays spent cheering on your beloved team, tailgating with all of your friends, and being a part of your bustling campus, it's normal to be sad that game days have officially concluded. But, in the grand scheme of things, it's probably for the best that game days only last for a duration of one semester. I mean, could our bodies really handle a full year of these vigorous Saturdays? Definitely not. The spring semester was most likely invented as a recovery period for the partying that partakes during fall. There's no need to fear how your Saturdays will now be spent, because it's really just by the things we never had time to do over Fall.

Here are eleven helpful ways to spend your Saturdays now that game days are over.

1. Relaxing.

Relaxing? On a Saturday? Sounds strange, I know. Normally, from dawn to dusk, our Saturdays are spent running around campus amidst tailgates, screaming fans, and our football team. There was never any time for relaxation on game days, but now there is more time than ever before. Its now acceptable for you to spend your whole Saturday in bed watching TV, because you probably need the rest.

2. Getting a head start on homework.

Let's be real, this probably won't ever happen. But, for all the times that we woke up on Sunday morning after a game day and realized the week of work that's ahead, it will be nice to at least know that now we have a whole Saturday to get started.

3. Working.

Spring is a great opportunity to finally get that job we've been talking about getting for two years now. Places are always looking for students to work the weekends, and now that game days are over, we really have nothing to lose by getting a job.

4. Hanging out with friends.

Although we were with our friends on game days too, we now have extra time to spend doing other things with them. Now we can all go to the mall or get our nails done. Pretty much we can now do things with our friends that we wanted to do before but just never could.

5. Doing things you never had time to do over fall.

Now we have time to do the random things we didn't have time for, like tanning, going to the movies, or finding new places to eat.

6. Starting a new Netflix season.

Now we can spend our Saturdays watching Netflix all day and not feel as bad for ourselves. It's not like theres really anything better to do anyways. So, time to find a new series to get addicted too.

7. Planning out what you want to do for spring break.

Instead of waiting untll the very last minute to figure something out, now we have plenty of time on Saturdays to look up plane tickets and hotel prices for a sick trip with friends.

8. Cooking good food.

On game days, we normally ended up at some sort of fast food restaurant. We were all probably disgusting and not feeling our best, so the quicker we could get our food, the better. Now, we have our Saturdays completely open and we can take the time to go grocery shopping and cook something healthy.

9. Going to some sort of day party.

Let's be real, just because game days are over, doesn't mean we will stop partying. Spring is normally the time for frats to host day parties to make up for the lack of excitement during the weekends. This can be fun from time to time, but also not as much as an obligation like game days were.

10. Getting organized.

Now, we can spend all this extra time getting our lives together. Our Saturdays can be put to good use, and we can actually get organized for once in our college career. By this I mean getting all of our notes together or writing important dates down in our agenda. Anything helps, really.

11. Cleaning.

Normally this type of activity is saved until Sunday night or whenever we have some sort of availability in our busy schedules, but now this is something we can conquer on Saturdays. Why go one more day with dirty dishes and laundry that needs to be done?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
