Summertime, the time of year that every student most looks forward to. A time full of sunshine, fun and relaxation. As every student knows, the summer often ends as soon as it begins. When the summer starts at the beginning of May (or June, for those of you still in high school), it seems like three and a half months of vacation is all the time in the world. However, that time flies by when you're eating ice cream on the beach with your friends. As I said before, the summer is the perfect time to relax and unwind. However, it is also the perfect time for many other things. I'd like to go over a few things that you can do to make the most out of your summer.
The most obvious choices for summertime activities are summer classes and part-time jobs. However, if you're already a part of these activities, and are just looking for something else to do, the summer is the perfect time to pick up a new hobby. These can range from physical activities, such as learning to skateboard, to more art-oriented ones like sewing. Personally, I've always wanted to learn the piano, and a few months of downtime from school is a great time to do so. Picking up a new activity is also a great way to not waste valuable time during the summer. Trust me, it is very easy and very tempting to stay inside all day and play video games or watch Netflix. Don’t waste your summer doing this though; save it for when you’re procrastinating during the school year (but seriously, don’t procrastinate).
The summer months are a great time to start a consistent exercise schedule. Everybody always jokes about getting the “perfect summer body,” but the summer really is the perfect time to start. Before I continue, I want to say that if you want to begin exercising, you can start whenever you want. You do not have to wait for the summer months, but they are an ideal time for exercise if you would like to. For starters, the summertime weather lends itself perfectly to outdoor activities. Sunshine and clear skies make for great running and swimming weather.
Summer is a time that all young people look forward to (until you become an adult; then summer doesn’t really mean a whole lot). While it is primetime for relaxation, it can also be a great time to learn many new activities.
