Honestly in this day and age it is so very difficult to be a girl. How are you supposed to know what a man wants? Dating today has become so casual and many people think that it is more convenient to just see the other partner when it is easy. One night stands without commitment have become the norm. It seems to me, that many people run from commitment. I think its because people find it scary and are afraid of the unknown. Most people think that it will be easier to just have a one-night stand and forget about the other person the next morning. It is almost considered cool to have casual sex and not worry about the other person.
The thing that I don’t understand is, if you have casual sex and continue to not get attached how do you ever find the one you are supposed to be with? Dating in my opinion is necessary. Everyone should have had multiple relationships before marriage. Each relationship will teach you about yourself and about what you like in a guy/girl. It is true that relationships help you see what you can and cannot tolerate in a man/woman. Everyone is different. They have different standards and expectations, but it is up to the individual to chose who is right for them. I think many people fall into a kind of trap. They see that a guy/ girl is interested in them and decide to go for it because they are happy that someone is paying attention to them. This, in my opinion, is totally wrong. Don’t get me wrong, it is nice to feel important and to have a special person care for you, but in the end it is your decision to let someone into your life. This is not a choice that should be taken lightly.
When choosing a significant other I think it is very important to realize that looks are not always the most important aspect of the person. Each one of us has the power to chose our attitude and actions towards others however none of us have any power in deciding our physical characteristics. Love is always deeper than the surface. Yes you do need to be attracted to the other person but if the entire relationship is based on physical attraction there is a problem. I think good relationships have people who care for one another and take interest in their lives. It is important for me that a guy is interested in me and not just in my physical appearance.
Dating is always hard but in my opinion very necessary. Dating allows people to come together and learn about their lifestyles and learn about the opposite sex and the way their mind works. I hope that you all have great relationships in your lifetime and do not settle for someone who desires casual sex. This is degrading and will always end badly. Our generation is lacking respect for ourselves and it is up to us to change it.
