With Spring Break coming and going, it's easy to get distracted. The weather is nice, it’s hard to be inside, and all you want to do is relax. You’ve been praying for summer, and it just can’t come soon enough, but it’s so important to stay on track with school. You are halfway there! Don’t get lazy and let your grades plummet. Don’t throw away your hard work thus far. Here are some tips on how to stay motivated:
Manage Your Time.
Make a plan for when to get work done. This helps a lot. Instead of continually getting overwhelmed, make a schedule. Write down when you have class and when you don’t. Also, include on that schedule times you have activities or work, and when you need to get food. On empty space, indicate specific times dedicated to studying. Getting and staying on track will help you feel less stressed. It’s not too late to get organized.
Study Outside.
When you’re complaining that it’s too nice to be inside, move outside. Grab all of your books, notes, and get work done in the sunlight. Invite some friends to keep you company. They would be willing to enjoy the warmth with you. Find a picnic table and just enjoy the weather! This will make you feel so much better, and hey, you may get a tan in the process. Sunscreen up!
Reward Yourself.
For every study session and completion of the seemingly never-ending assignments of homework, do something to reward yourself. Go out with friends, grab some froyo, or just relax. It is important to take a break every once in a while. Yes, college is important for classes and grades, but it is also a time to make memories. Be serious enough to the extent you get everything done efficiently, but don’t be so serious that you forget to have fun.
Remind Yourself Of Why You’re Here.
After all, you’re at college to get a degree and a job (and to meet people along the way!). Summer will always be around, but your college days won’t. Just think about how fast time has gone, and how it will only keep flying by. College is only four years of your life. In the grand scheme of things, that is only a short chunk. Don’t rush through these moments because you will be wishing to have them back one day.
Enjoy Every Moment.
Stop looking forward to the months from now, and look forward to everyday. Instead of counting the minutes, count the memories. Set day-to-day goals to look forward to. The more you do this, the more you’ll find yourself enjoying life. Summer will be here before you know it. For now, enjoy the days you have.
