Most students may currently be on summer vacation, but it’s never a bad time to learn some new study tips! I know for me one of the BIGGEST challenges I faced coming into college was the workload. The workload in college does not even compare to high school. At the beginning of my freshmen year, I struggled a bit. It wasn’t until after my fall semester when I soon figured out the best way for me to effectively study!
1. Get rid of all distractions.
I think we all know one of the biggest distractions for everyone, that being our phones. In order to focus on studying it’s super important to silence your phone. Even when you silence your phone, it can still be tempting to just take a look at Snapchat or check for any missed texts. I know it is for me at least. So if you relate to this too, I suggest giving your phone to a friend and having them keep it till you’re done!
2. Plan out study times.
Most students take about 4-5 classes each semester which you would think is easier since that’s less than the number of classes we took in high school! That may be true but as said before, the workload is usually much more. It’s crucial to balance out these classes. Prioritize the exams that you know are more difficult and require more study time first. Making a study schedule can be very helpful!
3. Listen to a study playlist.
If I ever find myself needing to focus a little extra than normal, I’ll search “study playlists” on Spotify and listen to it as I study. I’ve noticed, for me at least, it really helps! It is definitely something I’ve implemented into my study routine.
4. Utilize Quizlet.
Last but definitely not least is making a quizlet! Quizlet is such an amazing study tool that I suggest for everyone. Nine out of ten times you can find a quizlet for any test or subject you’re studying, but if not it is super easy to make your own. I will go through a quizlet over and over again until I fully know all the material on it. Another great plus is quizlet has different study tools like flashcards, tests, and even matching. It’s definitely a study must!
