1. Write Your Feelings Down
USE YOUR NOTES APP! I truly think this is one of the main things that has helped me over the years. Whenever I feel stressed about anything, I head straight to my notes. I use it to write a pros and cons list to figure out what I should do next, create timetables for my weeks, or write what I want to say to someone. Writing it down first helps clarify how you're truly feeling about the situation.
2. Talk To Someone You're Close To
If I feel that I really need someone else to help calm me down, I will straight away go to someone I trust. This happens 90% of the time. Sometimes you really need someone else talking to you and telling you what to do/just being there with you for the situation to diffuse.
3. Watch Some Netflix
Take a break. Grab your favourite snacks and watch a couple of episodes of your favourite show. I am guilty of thinking the only way to relieve my stress is not to stop until everything has been fixed or until I've figured everything out. But that isn't always the case. Sometimes continuing to focus on the issue makes it worse, and you need to take a step back for a moment.
4. Cry It Out
Don't hold back. If you feel like you need to cry, then cry. Don't suppress those emotions because, in the end, that will make it a billion times worse. As weird as it sounds, I always feel so much better after a good cry - it definitely clears my head, and I start to think more rationally once all the emotion is let out.
5. Play/Listen To Music
Music is such a great way to express yourself. I love playing the piano, so I'll start playing how I feel whenever I can as a way of relaxing. If you don't play an instrument, then listening to music is just as therapeutic. There are so many songs with such incredible messages behind them, and a lot of the time, that has helped me really figure out how I feel/how to deal with certain issues. I suggest downloading Spotify if you haven't already; it's free and will have everything you need!
