If you're like me then every start of the new school year you promise yourself that you'll be less of a trash person....and without fail, every school year you regress back into your old ways by mid-semester. Well finally, as a senior in college, I'm picking up some tips on how to be a more productive and overall happier human being.
1. Get up early no matter what.
Be up by 8 a.m. (at the latest) every day–Saturdays included. I hate mornings as much as the next girl, but nothing makes me feel worse than waking up at noon and only having half a day. When you get up early, you suddenly find that you have so many extra hours in the day to get your homework done before going out with your friends or to do some yoga or make a nice breakfast. It's hard at first, but seriously worth it. Pro tip: Schedule all your classes for *cue horror music* the morning. Yes, folks, I'm talking 8 or 9 a.m. It's beyond painful, but you get class out of the way early and have so much more time to get things done so as to enjoy more of your life.
2. Eat better.
Eating Wendy's for every meal may seem fun as hell, but it's actually dragging you further into the depths of the trashcan you call your life. All that grease and fat will just make you lazy and unproductive. Plus you'll gain weight and trust me, nothing is worse than that. So do yourself a favor and eat a salad.
3. Exercise more.
Even if it's just a quick walk around town, do something every day. You know the drill–at least 30 minutes. It really does boost your energy.
4. Put aside an hour a day (AT LEAST) for studying.
Get reading out of the way early, do that assignment now even if it's not due next week. Being ahead of the game feels utterly fantastic.
5. Deep clean your apartment or house once a week.
Once again, it sounds painful but it's a necessary evil. Trash people live in trash houses, you know. Cycle your laundry and dishes through the wash all week and keep trash picked up and once a week, mop, dust, sweep, and clean the bathrooms. It doesn't take long at all if you keep up with it and you'll feel so much better living in a clean environment.
So there you have it. From one (former) trash person to another– good luck!
