How To Be A Happier Person

Sometimes in life, we, unfortunately, find ourselves unhappy. Whether it be with school, our career choices, relationships, or for a reason we may not even know; we just aren't happy. When something like this happens, it can be really easy to get yourself stuck in a negative spiral. I know from personal experience how it feels to be unhappy with something and to continuously do nothing about it instead of making a change, and I'm one hundred percent sure that I'm not the only one who's done or experienced this at least once or twice in my life.

First, you need to just take a step back and really take a look at everything in your life. Review all of the things that make you feel good on the inside and all of the things that make you feel not so good on the inside. As soon as you realize what's making you unhappy, eliminate it. If there's something that's consistently ruining your day or stopping you from excelling at your full potential, why are you keeping it in your life?

Now, we all have responsibilities that we are designated to do and those you can't run away from, but you should never ever let something or someone stop you from being the amazing person that you truly are. If you are surrounding yourself with people who are not looking out for your best interest, then you aren't looking out for your best interest either. How can you expect yourself to be happy if you're around negative people? Choose to hang around a more positive crowd. You have no idea how big of a difference this can make for you and your happiness. If you surround yourself with positive people, you'll live a positive life. You must cut out all of the negativity which may even include your negative mindset because a negative mind will never give you any kind of a positive life.

Be yourself. Do things that make you happy. Never do something simply because someone else told you to. Never let anyone pressure you into doing things you aren't happy with. There is nothing wrong with having different interests or doing things a different way than others. There is nothing wrong with having a different comfort zone or a different idea of fun. What makes other people happy may not be the same as what makes you happy and that is the most normal thing in the world! Every decision you make shouldn't need an explanation. You don't owe anyone an explanation for your beliefs, preferences, or choices that make you happy.

Don't compete with others. Life isn't one big competition. The only person you should try to be better than is yourself and the person you've been in the past. You'll be a much happier person if you stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and how they're doing it. Have confidence in yourself and work on you.

The bottom line is, life isn't always going to be sunshine, butterflies and rainbows. There will always be some kind of obstacle that we have to overcome in our lives; that's just life. But, we can take the bad things and make good come out of them. I think to be happy you have to be able to deal with the problems and overcome them and every other obstacle that is put in front of you. That's how we learn, live, and become someone. You can't look at all the negative things all the time, you have to concentrate on the good things. And yes, it may take a while to be able to do that but you get to a point when you realize that happiness isn't a destination, it's a choice. Life will never be perfect. So, I feel that to be a happier person, we must do all of these things. If you choose to be a happier person, you'll live a happier life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
