Disney World, it's the most magical place on Earth. Where else can you go on a Jungle Cruise, eat every food group in the shape of Mickey's head and meet all your favorite childhood heroes? Well, besides Disneyland?
I've gone to Disney World a lot. My family has always loved going; through the years we've become pros at navigating the parks, finding the shortest lines and the best restaurants. But whenever I go, there's always that guy who's like...
"Isn't it just for little kids?"
"Why wouldn't you go to Universal? They have more roller coasters."
"It's so expensive it's not even worth going."
Disney resorts are fun for every age. I have more fun going now than I did when I was 7. There's something to do no matter what age you are, so consider this as your adult guide to having fun at Disney.
1. Stay in one of the upscale resorts.
There are 25 resorts at Disney you can stay in, and each one has something special about it. Animal Kingdom Lodge has zoo animals at the hotel, and sometimes giraffes come by your window! The Grand Floridian is very upscale and is probably the nicest place I have seen in my entire life. It looks like a 1920s movie scene, has tea rooms and even a gift shop with Lilly Pulitzer clothing. There's resorts with golf courses, large pools and all of them have towels arranged in the shape of Mickey's head. You could spend all day in the hotel exploring if you wanted, and not even feel like you were at a theme park.
2. Eat/drink around the world at Epcot.
This is a big thing in Epcot! You can start in Mexico and travel the world by eating and drinking through all the countries. Each place has traditional food and drink from each country, including France, Norway and Morocco. It's a challenge to drink around the world, which is having a full drink at 11 different countries. People get crazy at Epcot, y'all.
3. All those rides you were too afraid to ride as a kid.
I know I wasn't the only kid afraid of the Tower of Terror. Sometimes when you go in elementary school, you're too afraid to go on the thrill rides. Not anymore though (Well, maybe. I don't know your life)! But now you can enjoy the big rides like Expedition Everest, Rock N Roller Coaster (complete with the Aerosmith songs you now know) and Space Mountain. Plus, they open up new rides all the time, so you never know when your new favorite roller coaster will pop up.
4. There's more to eat than chicken fingers and french fries.
Downtown Disney has some of the best food ever. From the House of Blues to Wolfgang Puck, there's something delicious at every stop. Even the parks have great food; if you're willing to spend a little more, you can get quality Italian food and reenact that scene from the "Lady in the Tramp."
5. You can be a kid again.
Unless you are the most jaded, cynical person in the world, you love nostalgia. Everyone has a part of them that wants to go back to a simpler time, and Disney is the place where that is the status quo. You can wave at Winnie the Pooh as he strolls around the park, you can ride in a teacup, you can sing along to the classic "It's a Small World" and you can strut around the park in your best Mickey ears. There's nothing like forgetting your responsibilities for a day and acting like the kid you are deep down with your best friends. And that's the best part of Disney World.
