Summer isn't very complicated. In fact, for college students, it's the easiest part of their year. It's a carefree time meant for relaxing, hanging with friends, and mentally preparing yourself for another long year of school. So, in order to make sure you do summer properly, here is a tutorial:
Step 1: Sleep in.
You've been getting up early all semester for your classes, to get a gym session in, to make yourself a decent breakfast before a long day. You've also been staying up late all semester to finish your work, do your extra-curricular activities, to have some time with your friends. Now that summer is here, unless you have work in the morning, treat yourself. Sleep in a little bit. You deserve it.
Step 2: Make plans with your friends.
Don't lounge around your house all day. There's no reason to do that. Hit up all your friends from home, make plans to go out with them! There's tons of catching up you have to do, and only a few short months to fit in a year's worth of memories. Get to it.
Step 3: Work out.
Don't slack because it's summer. You still want to look great when you come back to school for fall semester. Your endorphins will be raised, you'll feel happier, and it'll give you something to do to kill the time while you're waiting for your friends to respond about going to the beach.
Step 4: Travel!
Road trips? Yes, please! Summer is the perfect time to drive across country, or visit friends from school who live so far away. See what you can while you're young and don't have midterms and essays to worry about!
Step 5: Get a job
If you don't already have a summer job while you're at home, you should get one. You probably felt a pang of sadness each time your friends ordered pizza and you didn't have the funds to get some, too. Save up now, work while you can, so you'll be able to have fun when you're back at college! It'll be worth the work.
Step 6: Spend time with your family.
You're going to be graduating soon. You're going to get a job, maybe go to Graduate school...and you'll probably end up doing all that a good ways away from home. Spend time with your family now, make the most of what's left of your "childhood"! (let's face it: we're not totally adults yet).
