How to pray for a partner
Valerie Morgan

Before I met my boyfriend, I prayed blindly for the Lord to send me a man to love. I had memorized what I thought I wanted, I longed for things I thought I needed. Spending what felt like years always praying for man who was kind, full of contagious joy, that worked hard, and loved life. I spent so much time praying for the Lord to send me the right person I forgot to go out and look. I forgot to make myself available, I went to school, I went to eat, occasionally I went to the gym, and I went home. The guys I did interact with were good friends, old flames I couldn't avoid, or they were complete strangers I happened to run in to. I finally realized this and within two weeks of actively making it known to guys that I was single; I had a date, a date with the guy who is rubbing my feet while I write this article. This is my advice for how to pray for and seek for a mate:

1. Make a list of all of your hearts desires

Genuinely search your heart and write out everything you want. Things that may seem small, are big when it comes to long term relationships. Be specific in your prayers, don't leave anything out. You really want someone who has pretty blue eyes? Better put that on the list, its not shallow, its something that you desire.

2. Pray that your partner is searching for you too

This is a big one, pray that the person you are supposed to be with is out there searching. Not only searching, but searching for the person you are and searching for the same type of relationship you are. They say the only thing you need for a relationship is chemistry and timing, so make sure you prayer for the right timing.

3. Date, flirt, and let the opposite sex know that you are interested.

If you've hung around any church for any amount of time i'm sure you've heard that faith without works is dead. While we usually categorize this under 'reasons to go to church', this is something that needs to be applied to all of your life. Especially your romantic life, if you feel called to a relationship, you need work and show God that you are ready. As odd as it may seem, going out on date is an act of faith. Faith that maybe one day that person will meet you somewhere at an altar.

So next time you pray for the Lord to send you a mate because you feel ready for a relationship, ask yourself; When's the last time I asked someone on a date?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
