Taking care of the planet is one of our most important duties as human beings! Just like cleaning your room so you're not lying in a pile of dirty laundry, water bottles, and filth, we should want our earth to be clean so we can enjoy our living space! It helps the animals that help sustain our lives too.

No-one likes to look at trash piling up on the side of the road. We like to see trash-free grass and bluebonnet clusters. (Don't litter, scumbags). These easy tips can be followed by anyone without taking too much time out of your daily life, and keep your house, and the planet much cleaner!

1. Recycle.

It can be seen as a hassle, but it's one of the most effective ways to reduce landfill buildup! Sorting to your trash, or having separate bins, makes a huge difference over time.

While not all neighborhoods recycle, you can still take a few of the basic recyclable items like water bottles, paper, and cans. Bag them separately, and drive them to a place (like Walmart or Target) to their recycling bins whenever you're going anyways! It might take a little extra time for a seemingly useless task, but over time it will make a big difference in our landfills!

2. Buy less "junk".

If you're going to throw it away in a couple of months, don't buy it! Also, try to buy products made of recycled materials. Especially if it is plastic. There are so many little items we end up not needing.

Especially junky children toys - think McDonald's Happy Meal-type stuff. Things that break easily, novelty pens, one-time use unnecessary items, etc. Minimizing junk that collects will keep your house and our earth clutter free.

3. Use reusable bags when grocery shopping.

Plus, you can bring back old plastic shopping bags that you accumulate to the recycling stations at grocery stores. Also use a reusable straw! I don't know why this isn't a law everywhere. Banning plastic bags and straws would be an amazing step in the right direction to help keep the oceans plastic-free.

The mounds of plastic floating in the oceans and harming sea life is absolutely unacceptable! We can do better as humans. We have the technology and skills.

4. Buy less single serving foods.

Buy family sized bags of chips instead of individually wrapped bags. The less plastic you use the better. Stop buying plastic cups and paper plates for your home unless they're recyclable.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
