I knew I wanted to come into this new year differently. It sounds completely cliche, but I wanted this year to be different. I wasn't happy with the way I was living & I knew that I was going to start making changes. To be completely honest I knew the lifestyle I was living was terrible. As funny (and pathetic) as it sounds, I spent the last 22 years of my life dreading almost everything. I dreaded going to class. I dreaded going to work. I dreaded going to the gym. I can't even count how many days I spent in my bed watching Netflix just wasting away my life until I realized that is not living. Think about it. Everybody dreads things, but it is your outlook and attitude that make it that way and you have the power to change that. So thats what I did, I changed.
I started waking up early, doing all my homework, and going to gym and I have never felt better about my life. They sound like small changes, but thats all you really need. Trust me I know everyday will not be sunshine and rainbows but that is okay. We have complete authority over the lives we choose to live. I know that things happen, but we have the power to choose whether or not we let it consume us.
So I dare you to live. Start with making small changes to your lifestyle like I did. Start by adding in a few workouts. Maybe start your homework ahead of time. Even throw in a few acts of community service around the community. Don't limit yourself to just small changes though. In order to enjoy your lifestyle it needs to be constantly changing. If you ever find yourself in a rut change it again. Go out and see new things or meet new people. Start gradually making bigger changes to your life. Start saving your money or apply for a promotion at work. If you're able to go out and travel the world.
I know that change is scary, but you do not want to wake up regretting the things you never did. Heck, I'm only 22 and I'm already upset it took me this long to figure it out. It is important to keep in mind, this world is an interesting place and living on it is nothing short of extraordinary. It may sound dark, but we do two things: we live and then we die. So why not make every single day on this Earth a day that is worth living. We have one life to live and if you wake up everyday unhappy with your life change it.
