I'm back in Florida and can't stop hearing about the
contemporary "Disney Springs."
The place isn't necessarily new, but a revamped version of what-once-was
Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney originally opened in 1975 and served as a
shopping, dining and entertainment location at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Over the years, families have enjoyed shows like "Cirque du Soleil," Rainforest Cafe eating experiences and plenty of
classic Disney merchandise stores while visiting. Updates to the complex
occurred, but any huge renovation was lacking. I know as a local resident, there
was little left pulling me up to Mickey Mouse's shopping district.
The first sign of change appeared in the form of a newly constructed parking garage. The next was a rumor that the entire place would be renamed and the rest was a mystery for me as I set off on my own new adventures. Almost four years has passed since and taking my first look at what Downtown Disney has become blows my mind. I give two thumbs up to the updated "Disney Springs." If you haven't been up to see it yourself, here are a few things to expect.

Unique Attractions

Another notable restaurant is The Boathouse. The restaurant is themed all things classically nautical with a beautiful deck for outdoor eating. The fine dining also comes with a unique experience (for a separate price of course) called Vintage Amphicar & Italian Water Taxi Tours. Visitors seat themselves in a vintage convertible that is accompanied by a driver. The car also functions as boat, and once everyone is comfortably seated, the car is driven down a ramp into the lovely Lake Buena Vista for a scenic boat ride.
Coca-Cola Store
Another favorite that has been added is the Coca-Cola Store. The popular soda is given two floors of merchandise and a rooftop bar. The specialty gifts include coke-themed clothing, jewelry, and home goods. The rooftop bar has a view over Disney Springs and plenty of seating for all its guests. There is a large menu of Coke products such as soda, floats, and even alcoholic beverages. The most frequently purchased item is a tray of taster cups that include many different soda flavors to share and experiment with your family and friends.
Some of the favorite areas of Downtown Disney still reside in Disney Springs. The West Side is still home to Splitsville Bowling Alley, "Cirque du Soleil" and Starbucks. The Marketplace Area has the LEGO store, Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop and World of Disney store. The additional shops and restaurants that have been added allow the complex to enhance and draw in more than just families with young children. You can now enjoy the magic of Disney without feeling like you're in a theme park. Go check it out!
