Dear Future Me,

1. I hope one day you read this, in twenty or thirty years, and I hope you're living life to the fullest.

2. I hope you’ve found your place in this crazy, messed up world.

3. I hope you’ve found the love of your life and I hope it was the right time.

4. I hope you love teaching just as much as you did during student teaching.

5. I hope you go out of your comfort zone on a daily basis, and I hope you’re comfortable in your own skin and body.

6. I hope you have a loving family that cares for you and appreciates you for who you are.

7. I hope you still talk to all your Gamma sisters and I hope you’re close with mom, dad and Evan.

8. I hope you wake up each morning, realizing you’re here for a reason.

9. I hope you live near Disney, or at least go often enough.

10. I hope you kept in touch with everyone from school (or at least most of them).

11. I hope you’ve grown.

12. I hope you’ve learned to cope with your anxieties, your fears, and I hope you’ve stopped overthinking every little thing anyone does.

13. I hope you realize that you are loved.

14. I hope you have more good days than bad, but I hope you have a support group of people who are there for you on the bad days.

15. I hope you’ve learned to let people in and I hope you’ve learned to trust.

16. I hope you’ve learned to not be as scared of change.

17. I hope the world is a pretty decent place, and I hope you treat your friends with the respect they deserve.

18. I hope the real world hasn’t gotten to you too much and I hope you still believe that there is some good in the world.

19. I hope you’ve opened a day care or work as a kindergarten teacher and I hope you still dream just as big as you did when you wrote this.

20. I hope the years have been good to you.

21. I hope you still talk to your friends from home, and I hope you keep laughing.

22. I hope you still stand up for what you believe in and I hope you’re making the world a better place – one student at a time and one day at a time.

23. I hope you get lots of sleepy cuddles and I hope you’ve found what you were looking for.

24. I hope you had the wedding of your dreams – in Disney obviously.

25. I hope you’re still writing your heart out, putting all the feelings and emotions you can’t put into words into the world through writing.

26. I hope you go to sleep each night with a smile on your face and your heart happy.

27. I hope you never gave up and I hope you never let the bad days win.

28. I hope you are confident in your abilities and I hope you never forget what you’ve been through.

29. I hope you can drive and I hope you live somewhere beautiful.

30. But most of all, I hope you’re happy

Love, 21-year-old me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
