“He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.” - Proverbs 18:22
In the Book of Proverbs, a woman's worth is the most valuable thing any woman should have. From the way she dresses, her mindset, the people she's around, the temperance and (sometimes) patience she practices, the struggles she faces, and her capability of handling certain situations, a Proverbs woman is a good woman. Better yet, she's a keeper.
"Beauty over brains" am I right? Does that phrase still even exist today? Aren't having smarts and beauty two of the most important, and attractive, qualities that should be found in a mate? Or is everything based solely on looks, physique, and social/emotional status? Hard to say in today's modernly twisted and complicated dating world.
A woman is taught the values of being a lady starting at a young age. From mannerism, posture, and to how she dresses, it's been a social custom passed on from generation to generation. Throughout history, women have undergone tremendous heights and trials to get to where they are today. From obtaining the right to vote, the right to work, giving birth, and being the bread-winner of the family, women are equally capable of doing just as much as a man.
Coming into the 21st century, and in the last decade, women are faced with numerous emotional and social issues influenced mostly through the media. Those being: body image, eating disorders, anorexia, self-esteem, and, most of all, the idea of being "perfect." From the magazines, ads, and commercials, today's mainstream media is influencing a naturally-born beautiful woman to turn into a plastic doll. Most of all, young women are faced with doubt and neglect of not being "good enough," "smart enough," "beautiful enough," "thin enough," etc.
Throughout Proverbs 31, the hardworking, smart, and diligent bread-winner woman does much more than carrying a household. When a woman is clothed with strength and dignity, she is clothed with much more than the iconic prevalent verses in the bible. Like anyone, she has ups-and-downs, baggage, and a past that cannot be changed. She strives and works through them to better herself for the future. Her clothing is adorned with modesty and respect towards herself and to others.
Fellas, gentlemen, better hold on to your woman. Especially a good successful woman. She doesn't just encompass talent and skills of a go-getter, she has real-world experience in all fields. She got the homemaker skills of Betty Crocker, smarts like Einstein, and beauty like Eva Longoria. A Proverbs woman is a successful woman with a bright future and many good things to come. Keep faith, good things are coming.
"And let us consider how we may spur another on toward love and good
deeds, not giving up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing,
but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day
approaching" Hebrews 10:24-25
