Alas, it is the week I dread most: Homecoming Week. Everyone is sadly attempting to be peppy and filled to the brim with school spirit while also dying inside from pure exhaustion. This is especially true if you are actively involved on campus, as I somehow find myself to be.
Homecoming Week consists of a few basic "organized-fun" activities that no one really attends, followed by the glorious lip sync competition, the Homecoming parade, and lastly, the football game on Saturday. Sounds like a week of pure fun. Sure, to those that like organized activities, Homecoming Week is a hoot and a half. For me, not so much.
Somehow, Homecoming Week falls smack-dab in the middle of Midterms every single year. Joy. How exactly am I supposed to practice for lip sync, help paint some stuff, attend the events, and still keep my grades up? More importantly: how am I supposed to do all of this and not take my frustrations out on passersby? I'm still waiting on an answer to that. Until then, just watch yourself if you're lucky enough to be around me this week.
So, while we all hopelessly attempt to survive this week, here are some tips for not having a mental breakdown in the midst of getting ready for your sorority's lip sync and homecoming float, acing that huge test your professor knowingly scheduled during the busiest week of the semester, finding time to stuff your gullet with food in order to sustain life, going to class, getting some form of sleep, and whatever else that has plopped itself onto your to-do list.
Accept the fact that you're going to have to stay up late. You can sleep when you're dead. It's just one week.
Let all that you do be done last minute. That's when we're the most productive, after all. Just go with the flow and stop stressing about everything. Life will go on. Just make it through this week!
Get over yourself. Everyone is busy, so stop your self-loathing. No one wants to hear you whine about how busy you are. Unless you are me, in which case you are allowed to whine for the purposes of this article.
Alright, that's it. There you go. As many of you know, I absolutely hate listicles, but it's a busy week, so I only have the brain capacity to give you the most minimal writing efforts, aka, a dumb list. Also, there are only three because I have more important things to do. Have a great week (spoiler: that's completely impossible).
