"You don't know what you got til it's gone" or until you go to college...
As a freshman I NEVER got home sick or even remotely desired going home. But as I get older the thought of going home becomes more and more appealing. I have begun to cherish the little things about home that I always had taken advantage of before. Home is where the heart is.
1. Seeing old friends.
I love going home to my high school best friends. It makes me so happy to be able to catch up and share all of our insane college stories. Nothing ever changes either, we pick up and leave off exactly where we left off. My childhood wouldn't be the same without them!
2. Siblings.
For anyone with siblings, your bond will grow even stronger once you leave home. My sister is my right hand man. Seeing her when I go home is truly the highlight of any of my breaks.
3. Parents.
I cherish anytime I spend with my parents! I have equally as much fun sitting around my dinner table having hour long conversations about life and all of our funny childhood memories as I do with my best friends. My relationships have developed to a whole other level with my parents now that I am in college.
4. HOME COOKED MEALS.
Wow you really have no idea how good a home cooked meal is, until you've spent an entire semester eating college cafeteria food. Nothing tops Daddy's grilled salmon or mommy's amazing lasagna recipe.
5. Leisure time.
Being a college student is a job in itself. With weekly sorority events/ meetings, studying, going out, hittin the gym, and napping there is seriously no such thing as free time. Relaxing is never an option and personally I enjoy that but every now and then it's nice to be able to go home and have zero worries. You can catch me tanning for about 90% of my time spent at home.
6. Bed.
The amount of hours I spend just laying in bed when I get home is actually unreal. There is nothing more comfortable than your childhood bed let me tell ya!
As much as I have grown to appreciate going home I am always so happy to arrive back at school. My childhood me truly took advantage of home and now I can look back and cherish everything about it.
