If you haven't heard the news of Colin Kaepernick then you must be living under a rock. Colin Kaepernick is a NFL football quarterback who plays for the San Francisco 49ers. Now you might wonder why should we care about him? He has nothing to do with us especially if you are not a football fan like me, but when I heard this story I was very intrigued. He is a quarterback who did not stand up for the national anthem and hasn't been standing up in the past games, because of the police brutality to black people and people of color. Many people are outrage, because he hasn't been standing up.
My opinion on this is that why are people getting outraged about a quarterback not standing up for the national anthem when there is more important issues. Such as Ray McDonald and Aldon Smith who were accused of some sort of domestic abuse or sexual assault. Then people came up with the hashtag #BoycottNFL because soon after Colin Kaepernick didn't stand up others didn't either like one of his teammates-Eric Reid, Seahawks corner back Jeremy Lane, and most recently the linebacker of the Broncos Brandon Marshall. Now people are using the #BoycottNFL hashtag to say why they don't support Colin Kaepernick not standing for the national anthem, but in all reality the reason they should be boycotting the NFL isn't because Colin Kaepernick won't stand for the national anthem, it's because so many football players have abused or hit other people, especially women. Why don't people boycott the NFL for that? Is that not a good enough reason too? Or it doesn't matter? Those are the question I ask myself every single time I hear this story come up.
