"What Happened?" Proves Clinton Learned Nothing From The Election

Hillary's new memoir perfectly displays why she lost the election, but not for the reasons she wants you to think.

With the release of her new memoir, Hillary Clinton has come out of the woodwork back into the public eye after her devastating election loss in November. In some ways, "What Happened?" perfectly encapsulates why Hillary Clinton, and the Democrats overall, lost the election; but not for reasons explicitly laid out in the book. Because of this, a wave of criticism from the progressive left followed. In "What Happened?" Hillary Clinton does nothing but paint herself as the victim. Rather, she should have taken the high road and accepted her part in the matter. Because whether Hillary likes it or not, she's responsible for President Donald Trump.

Hillary and her neoliberal brigade would be willing to say anything to convince you that it was sexism, third party voters, non-voters, the "alt-left" (ironically a term originally coined by corporate Democrats to smear progressives) or even Bernie Sanders who lost her the election. In reality, Clinton was half of what made up the most unpopular election in American history. Insisting on belittling those you were supposed to be getting to vote for you is part of that. Refusing to adopt key policy issues the entire base of the Democratic party stands for is part of that. Pretending to be in touch with average Americans you couldn't more clearly be out of touch with is part of that. She - and nobody else - chose to stand for these unpopular policy positions. People want real change, not the fake neoliberal change touted by Hillary or most the other so-called Democrats. America chose to elect a reality tv host as President of the United States; and as much as I agree with those who make the popular vote count argument against the Electoral College, Hillary knew what she had to do. She decided to neglect campaigning in the rust belt states she ended up losing. This was her time and she blew it, there is no one else to blame but herself. Hillary's actions had consequences and she has yet to own up to those. In being too confident in herself and blind to how disliked she actually was, Hillary lost the thing she wanted most in this world. Now, we have to wake up every day and wonder "who's rights will be stripped from them today?" All because of her sense of entitlement and self aggrandizement.

How long is it going to take to get this type of Democrat to listen to us? We are the ones paying them, after all. They have the audacity to give us incremental reform like Obamacare over Medicare-for-All, for example; then they pat themselves on the back like they're our saving grace! Now's the time to give an actual progressive agenda a chance, because the numbers show that Americans would far prefer the progressive agenda to the neoliberal-corporatist one that the Democrats have put up year after year for the past two decades.

It's just disheartening that we still have to have this conversation. But unfortunately we will have to continue this dialogue because these Democrats will not give up their old tricks unless we keep holding them accountable. They will keep trying to put us down, gaslight us, invalidate us and pretend our voices can't be heard, just to ensure that they stay in power. We need to show these Democrats that they are suppose to work for us!

"What Happened?" highlighted that Hillary Clinton has learned absolutely nothing from the 2016 election. She still thinks progressives are the problem and the solution is worn-out democratic centrism. Some are speculating that this book is signaling another run for Hillary in 2020. Take it from me, Hillary, do not ever run again. Your time has passed; give a real progressive a chance. Be the politician people want you to be, do the electorate some good and go away. You're really only making things worse for your fellow Democrats.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
