So I recently went vegan (YAY, save the animals) and I love it! It's not as hard as I thought and it's kind of fun experimenting with new recipes. There was only one problem. I had to give away a LOT of makeup and beauty products.
If you know me then you know that there is nothing I like more than beating my face. I just love it when a look comes together.
My highlight and contour were definitely on fleek that day. When I went vegan, I didn't want to lose my love for makeup! So I did some research. I found a ton of drugstore, as well as high end, products that are cruelty free!
Recently, I swung by Sephora and I have to say, I spent way too much money. But can you blame me? I had to do it! I needed so many things! Plus they give out free samples. Yes, free. Just go in there, find something you want to try, and ask one of the artist to give you a sample.
After my Sephora trip, I did a Snapchat haul. And if you follow any of the beauty gurus on Snapchat then you know what that is. It's just like when someone posts a YouTube clothing haul except for it's on Snapchat. It's just a way to link your social media accounts.
So, I did one and I think it went pretty well! I got some really good feedback which resulted in me decidcing to adjust my haul to fit an article format. You can follow me on Snapchat @domdomsworld to check it out!
I had no idea that some of my all time favorites such as MAC, Estee Lauder, and Makeup Forever, tested on animals. It was such a shock that I went that long being so oblivious. But I found some new goodies that will make you just as happy as it made me whether you're vegan or not.
1. Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette
I've been wanting to try this for soooo long! I was beyond excited when I found out that all of Kat Von D's products were cruelty free! This palette comes with a guide on contouring and highlighting as well as some of Kat's personal tips.
2. The Original Beauty Blender
Yes. The holy grail beauty blender is cruelty free. I picked up two at my last trip. They get dirty so fast and I am lazy so I know the second one will absolutely come in handy. These little things have upgraded my makeup so much! They make blending very easy. Just dampen them and blend away!
3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit
Okay readers. You haven't seen contour until you've contoured with this kit. It will blow your mind. Just like the shade and light palette, it comes with three highlights and three contours. The only difference is that you use the Cream Kit to do the actual contour/highlight and then you set it with the shade and light.
4. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
Some people are really iffy when it comes to NARS products. NARS is owned by a company that tests on animals but NARS itself, along with three other branches, are not sold where animal testing is mandatory. So, I figured I could pick one up because I personally think that means it is a cruelty free company. But to each his own. I got mine in Amande.
5. Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation
Once again, Kat came in clutch with the amazing packaging! I have a thing for good packaging and she wins me over each time. This foundation is full coverage. I apply a VERY little. That's how much coverage it has. It's amazing.
6. Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette
When it comes to eye shadows, I prefer a matte finish so this palette is perfect! It has really good transitioning colors as well. My two favorite colors are best friend and bombshell. This palette also comes with a guide for a day and night eye look!
7. Becca Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector (Champagne Pop)
My highlight is about to be on so many different levels. YouTube beauty guru Jaclyn Hill was lucky enough to collaborate with Becca and form an entire line. I only picked up one of the items. You can understand how excited I was when I found out Becca was cruelty free! Their highlights are AMAZING.
8. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
I have no idea how to fill in eyebrows. I never had to! My eyebrows are naturally thick and full. I just get them arched once a month. But I have this fear that my eyebrows are going to burn off or something and I'll have no idea how to draw them on. So, I'm going to practice! I scooped up the brow wiz in Dark Brown. This tool is pretty special because it has the spool on the end.
All of these products are amazing! Whether you're vegan or not, these items will definitely give you the best makeup look ever.
