1. Caffe Vittoria
Everyone knows the famous Mike’s Pastry, where the lines run down the streets of Boston’s North end. Caffe Vittoria, also in the North End, is what I would call under appreciated. Mike’s is good, but if you want a change ,Caffe Vittoria is the place to be. You will learn to appreciate the many Italian coffees and desserts they have to offer. Go order a cappuccino or some authentic gelato; the unique aesthetic and city view never gets old. By far a must "go-to" every time you are in the area!
2. Saus
If you are looking for a change or maybe a late night snack, then Saus is the place to go. Saus has recently become famous for their Belgium waffles and french fries. Saus is a unique place to unwind and enjoy some “comfort” food. Oh, and be sure to try one of the 15 home-made dipping sauces.
3. Erbaluce
If you want a taste of some uniquely-crafted Italian food, Erbaluce is the place to be. With a menu that changes nightly, you never know what to expect. The staff will be sure to recommend their favorites as you enjoy some Italian breadsticks. Erbaluce is the perfect “hidden gem” after seeing a show in Boston’s theatre district.
4. Blackbird Doughnuts
Craving sweets? Go stop into the ultimate hidden doughnut shop in Boston’s South End, “Blackbird Doughnuts.” With no place to sit, Blackbird is a to-go only shop, with coffee, tea, and a variety of homemade donuts.
5. Sip Café
Sip Café is located in an all glass building in Post Office Square. With many things to choose from such as, delicious sandwiches, coffee and specialty drinks, soups and salads, it is definitely worth the trip. Sip Café is also great for hosting private functions!
These hidden gems are definitely worth the trip, however, don’t forget about Quincy Market, Mike’s Pastry, or even Giacomo’s. Bon appetite!
