To so many people under the age of 30, college students especially, their phone has their whole life on it and it’s nearly impossible to leave the house without it. While your phone is great for snapping your friend a picture of a cute dog you saw on your walk to class, there are some awesome, more productive apps you can download that will make your life considerably easier and make your bank account happy.
1. Pocket Points
Pocket Points is a cool app that is used to promote staying off your phone in class. All you do is open the application up, leave it open on your phone, and then turn your phone off. While you are sitting in class (or any academic building on campus) you earn points that can later be exchanged to get discounts and free items from local stores and restaurants as well as online stores.
2. Hooked
Hooked is useful for those of us who don’t have time to cook at home and would prefer to go out to eat but don’t want to drop $40 on food every day. Hooked features discounts and promo codes that can be used at all different restaurants. It constantly updates its selection of restaurants so you get a wide variety.
3. Spotify
Buying music can get expensive but it is super necessary to have when doing homework, studying, or working out. Spotify has a college student discount, has a massive streaming collection, and now comes with access to a Hulu account.
4.GroupMe
DOWNLOAD GROUPME NOW IF YOU DON’T ALREADY HAVE IT! This one is super important because you will end up using it to communicate for pretty much every group project or organization you are in.
5. Venmo
Carrying cash around can be annoying and dangerous. Venmo is basically a virtual wallet that you can use to pay people. It’s super simple to use, all you do is connect it to your bank account, then anytime you owe someone money or need someone to pay you back, you can transfer it immediately.
6. Uber
There will be plenty of times that you or a friend are in a situation where you can’t or do not want to drive so Uber is the easy and obvious answer. Just be careful because it can be costly during surge time!
7. Fitness App (8fit, fitbit, sweat, etc)
Remembering to workout can be difficult among already trying to remember all your plans and assignments. A fitness app is a useful thing to have because it will remind you to work out as well as help you plan a work out that fits well into you schedule. There are a ton of different work out apps, some free and some that cost money, but you can try out a variety to see what works best for you.
8. Calendar App
Even if you keep a planner, having an effective calendar app or utilizing that one that is pre-downloaded on your phone is key. Sometimes dates are thrown at you and you don’t have you planner with you or you are out and about and don’t want to worry about it carrying around and that’s when this app comes in handy.
9. Quizlet
Quizlet is an efficient study tool to have when preparing for a test. Having it one your phone is just taking it one step further so that you can take your virtual flask cards with you on the go especially for a quick cram session on your way to the test.
