Hear Me Now

Personal piece on heartbreak.

Hear Me Now

Many people mock teenagers and are insensitive to their feelings. They brush it off as temporary or a joke. Invalidating that what they are feeling, what we are feeling, isn't real or worth paying attention to. They do not realize that our feelings are very valid and real to us. Even if they will not matter in the future, it matters to us right now and at this moment. As an avid writer, I wrote a lot about how I felt throughout my middle school and high school years. I wanted to recall back on it and use it as proof that it matters. As many other teenagers, I experienced heartbreak. Even though sometimes are no string of words that can explain a feeling the best one can do is try. Therefore, I am willing to share this intimate and personal piece on heartbreak. This was written on April 12, 2013.

It is, as if, the world's colors dimmed. Those favorite chocolates of yours do not taste as sweet and those three words, "I love you" taste bitter at the tip of your tongue. Some days are easier than others, when the world is kind to not set up little things that remind you of them. their name in your English book, their favorite shirt worn on a passing stranger and the most peculiar one of them all- their scent mysteriously filling up your lungs. And by such surprise you are taken that you look around the room searching for a ghost you know is not there. His scent intoxicates your lungs and you try to scream for help but you can't- his sweet aroma stops you mid-breath and all of it, all of it comes back. In less than a second; his laughter, the way he would pout when upset, his eyes, his lips, the way he searched for your hand and grasped it tightly as if any moment you'd disappear. All of it flashes in front of you. And you are there- at your desk with your heart bleeding and staining the picture around you. And you are there- firmly grasping your desk until your knuckles turn white so you won't lose your grasp to reality. And you are there- facing the world on your own with words that cannot be said or spoken of as they cling on the back of your throat and if even whispered.. the words would fall and shatter your very being. And you blink slowly as they ask, "Are you okay?" And with every aching muscle in your face you manage a smile, a halfhearted laugh, and say "I'm fine! Just tired.." and you're falling apart but look so well put together and they turn around and believe your mask instead.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
