I’ll miss breakfast and start to get teary eyed because my eight AM teacher just spelled my name with a –ie instead of a –Y. Then I start thinking the whole world is against me. I’ll be walking in between classes glaring at everybody and feel like I’m ready to throw a punch at the next person who is walking like they have snails for feet in front of me.
Then the bell for lunch ends and I realize that I just finished my whole Chipotle bowl and still thought about going back for a cheese quesadilla.
After I've eaten I am walking on cloud 9 with a full stomach. I should pick up my feet and skip through the hallways, I am so god damn happy when I know I’ve had a filling meal.
When you are so hungry that your lack of food causes you to become angry, frustrated or both."

My mom, friends, and boyfriend have suffered first hand from the effects of my hangeryness. I could get into detail, but I am trying to build a good reputation of myself online here.
As an 18 year old I want to take a good hold of my health and body while I still have control of it and a amazing metabolism. Here are a few key things I do through out the week to keep myself feeling fabulous and fit.
Dieting
I choose to avoid commercial fad diets because the creators don’t know me personally enough to tell me what my body needs on a day-to-day base. I follow the basic key groups of foods that keep me fully functioning.
- Proteins
- Carbohydrates
- Vegetables- for vitamins and minerals
- Fruits- for vitamins, minerals, and good sugars
- Omega’s/ good fats
- Water
- Dairy
I make sure that my meals for the day hold all seven of those keys to stay energized. I also feel good knowing that I’m putting loving things into my body, I mentally and physically feel better.
Dieting is not skipping meals, I REPEAT, dieting in not skipping meals.
Avoid fast food
Special Diets
I am a vegetarian and find it very easy for me to fulfill myself with my basic keys. Tofu, plant based “meats”, vegetables, greek yogurt, granola, eggs, and beans are all foods I can relay on for a source of protein. I believe meat was a reason why I was beginning to gain unnecessary weight, it’s almost been a year meat free and I find it very easy to maintain a healthy and proud weight.
I went vegan for a couple months and mostly relayed on dairy free protein shakes, vegeatbles, tofu, dairy free plant based “meats”, beans, and vitamins for my protein. The vegan diet wasn’t for me. I lost a lot of weight, became easily fatigued, moody, and began to snack on anything I could (healthy or not) just to feed my hunger. Although I did feel very light, lost a lot of acne, and fit into my old jeans.
Working out
If I don’t make it to the gym that week I make sure I go on a big hike or spend the day swimming. Summer is the perfect season to easily hit a four-six mile hike or swim in a local water hole or lake! Also sweating is really good for you, so make sure to bring water so you can keep sweating and not get exhausted.
I’ve also been getting into yoga lately; there are more benefits to yoga than you think. It keeps joints and muscles flexible, improves respiratory functions, maintains a balanced metabolism, builds muscle strength and tone, and while also burns weight.
When I do go to the gym I have a list of key workouts to hit:
- Stretching
- Cardio (For at least 30 minutes)
- Core workouts (at least ten reps of my five favorite core builders)
- Squats
- Stretching
Drink water and green tea
It’s a given that water is important. You’ll fill up more if you drink before a meal, feel more energized, gain nothing but good from a glass, and it will improve your digestive system.
Green tea is a natural detox and also mostly water based. It too will help you feel more filled up, a healthier caffeine than coffee, and helps you loose weight.
