It's funny because to others, this person is just another human being.
It's funny because others can talk to this person every day, and not even realize how lucky they are to get to carry a conversation with them. You sit there waiting for this person to simply say hi to you, and someone who doesn't appreciate them nearly as much as you, is chatting away with them. They can laugh together and have amazing conversations, then walk away and completely forget about it minutes later. They don't even acknowledge the significance. But to you, this person means everything.
It's funny because when the two of you talk, laugh, or maybe - if you're lucky - feel this person's quick, meaningless touch on your skin, you replay it for hours, maybe even days. You reminisce as you tell your best friend about your conversation and save the memory while you lay in bed. You are sleepless as you imagine all of the scenarios that may have occurred if you responded to his touch differently and all of the scenarios that may occur in the future. You try to find sense in something that was completely accidental. They probably completely forgot about the conversation by now and might not have even taken note that they accidentally brushed against you, but to you, it meant everything.
It's funny because imagine this - it may have meant everything to them, too. It's funny because you could have the same feelings for each other but both be too shy or scared to admit it. You could both be lying in bed thinking about each other's smile, laugh or even the smell of each other's perfume/cologne. It's weird because whether they like you back or not, you'll never know unless one of you decides to say something.
It's funny because maybe one night when you're both drunk at a party together, one of you will have the confidence to confess how you feel, or maybe, only a drunken kiss will happen - which will only make you wonder more. Was it because you two were drunk or was it because he actually has feelings for you?
It's funny because until anything like that occurs, you'll continue to have a simple crush only your best friends know about. You'll continue to reminisce every conversation you share with this person. You'll continue to learn more about them and you'll continue to fall for them harder every day. You'll continue to be jealous of everybody else who gets to talk to and create memories with this person. You'll continue to wonder how others don't fall for this person.
