It's my third week of college. I have met three weeks worth of people. Every second of the day I am encountering person after person. It gets a little tiring, not going to lie.
I'll give you a little idea of what people are like here, more specifically, boys. Everyone is new, it's exciting, a clean slate. With this new world, comes the attempt to maybe be more social than usual, make new friends, ones that may last a week, or ones that might be there on your wedding day. It's really a hit or miss kind of deal.
The girls in high school who maybe didn't have a lot of boyfriends or go on dates at all are now getting a little bit of attention. They're jumping at it. The girls who did on the other hand, well they're just basking in the lime light, nothing new.
Throughout my experience so far, as someone who entered college in a long distance relationship, things get interesting. It goes a little like this:
"Hey I'm *insert boy*"
"I'm Kaleigh!"
Let's say, 10 minutes have passed and you're thinking, "wow we could be great friends, I finally met someone who isn't completely disrespectful!"
Then it goes down hill, you realize that they're only talking to you for a reason you're not interested in. So, even though you didn't think you had to, you say you have a boyfriend and goodbye new friend.
The boyfriend that I said I have, well he's one of a kind. I'm proud to tell that gross guy that I have the perfect guy back home. My boyfriend is sweet, respectable, and all around perfect. After observing the nasty college "hookup" lifestyle, I am happy to be with my guy.
Seeing his smile through every FaceTime, or every short visit, is a breath of fresh air for a person who sees the unfaithful and attention-seeking, looking for love in all the wrong places culture.
