A Guide to Successfully Achieve Your New Year's Resolutions

In This Article:

Many of us have very ambitious goals for the new year and at times, it gets hard to keep up with them. Some people give up a few days into it, some give up after a few months, and there are some who get to achieve their goal(s).

I know for me I have given up on goals within a few days because I get caught up in my busy life and I say "I'll do it next year!" but that mindset isn't the best one to have because then you'll never be able to achieve a goal.

This year is different for me since I did manage to achieve at least one of the goals that I had last year and saw how rewarding it was. That goal was to get better grades prior to transferring to a university. Not only did I make it into the Dean's List during my last semester at community college, but I also got into every university I applied to!

However, enough about me. Here are some tips to help you all achieve your new year's resolutions:

1. Don't stop if you fail at your resolution(s) early on

Even though you might've done poorly in trying to complete your resolution, it should not mean you should fully end it! Keep going fam, don't let it discourage you from getting to endpoint!

2. Set something REASONABLE

I've set some unreasonable goals in the past which haven't helped me fully complete a goal. Set something you KNOW you can do. Nothing is truly impossible if you REALLY set your mind to it but you gotta be realistic and see if it is achievable within your resources and overall reason.

3. Don't have too many goals

It is tempting AF to do so because you want to 'glo up' your life fully within the span of ONE YEAR but sis, be nice to yourself. Set a good amount of resolutions that are not too time-consuming and don't force you too much out of your comfort zone. You have to balance everything in your life including the desire to complete these goals, give yourself something reasonable to complete! Remember that, good things take time. So take it step-by-step each day!

4. If you complete a goal, treat yourself!

Rewarding yourself is important but don't indulge too much in whatever you treat yourself with! You have to make sure you don't make it a habit either. Completing a goal should be a reward enough.

6. You don't need other's validation to complete your goals

It's your life so it does not matter what other's think about your goals. If you need support to finish your goal, you should be your own fan to support you fully. You got this!!

6. There's always next year...

Although I advise this the least, you should try again next year. BUT that's if you fail miserably and lose the motivation completely to keep going. Good luck with your 2019 goals!

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
