Dear Dub Nation,
The countdown begins now: the NBA season starts in less than a month!
Just to be clear, my favorite team happens to be the Golden State Warriors. I rep Dub City, bleed royal blue & California yellow, and I dream of living in San Francisco.
I don’t try to hide the fact that I am a huge fan. I was one of the few that cheered for the Warriors back in 2015 in Cleveland when they won the championship in six games.
I frequently wear my favorite shirts: Strength in Numbers, a Stephen Curry MVP from way back when he first got the honor, and a simple 73 because, well, history was made. Besides shirts, every game day I sport my GSW hat and during cross-country races, I spike up with Stephen Curry socks.
I only have two words for this year: Redemption Season. Simple as that, Stephen, Klay, Draymond, Iggy, and Steve Kerr let the back-to-back slip away in June and they’re furious. Even though it’s been five months, the wound still stings. This season they’ll be back and stronger than ever, because drum roll please…. KD.
Kevin Durant, aka KD, is in the house and he will just make Strength in Numbers mean so much more in the Bay Area. He brings leadership and power to the Warriors. He’s not afraid to drive to the hoop and dunk on literally anyone.
What other team boast the Splash Brothers and KD this year? Zero. That’s right because this year the Warrior’s are going all the way. They will gain another ring on their fingers. It’s time to bring another banner home to Oracle. It’s time to give KD the championship that he deserves. Time to make history…again!
The Warriors now have powerhouse defense, quick three point shooters, and a bit of the persona of being an under dog this upcoming season. Preseason rankings have us #2 behind Cleveland, but that won’t last for long.
It’s not going to be easy. When is anything great easy? Golden State will have to gut it out and wipe last year out of their mind. I don’t need 74 wins. All I need is another championship.
Ignore the haters. Don’t even give Cleveland another thought. Good luck Warriors. I believe in you. I was there when you won the world championship and I know, next June, I will see you raise the Larry O’Brien trophy high again. Let’s go Dubs,
Cordially,
An adoring and passionate fan
