Growing Up: '90s Style

If you grew up in the '90s, you know these things, and you love them.

Let's face it, growing up as a kid in the '90s and early 2000s was pretty magical. We had some awesome toys and gadgets to entertain us, not to mention decent television shows that you could actually relate to. Now don't get me wrong, I was a huge fan of "Pokemon" and all things sci-fi and fantasy, but sometimes you just want to watch someone else ruin their shirt for picture day, or totally embarrass themselves in front of a huge crowd.

Sometimes I wish we still used some of the things we used as kids, but then I remember I'm 21 years old and I'm like "Nah." But I will never say no to "Lizzie McGuire" reruns.

Hit Clips

Growing up in the '90s you probably listened to music with this. It was easily the coolest gadget for a 7-year-old. Ten points for Gryffindor if you had one of these.

Walkman

If you loved to listen to music, you probably also used this. This may or may not be my childhood walkman ... OK, it is. I absolutely loved that thing. I never left my house without it, because god forbid I get stuck in the car for more than 20 minutes without music that little 10-year-old me wanted to listen to.

Game Boy

I think almost every kid had one of these. "Pokemon." Enough said.

Furby

After owning one of these, I became absolutely terrified of them. I still cringe whenever I see them. These things haunt me even now. On the computer. While writing this, my computer crashed, and when I reopened the page the only thing in my text box was this picture. I swear this is the devil's toy.

Easy Bake Oven

These actually made the best desserts ever.

McDonalds Happy Meal Toys

Even McDonalds toys were cooler when we were younger. I think it's safe to say that besides the french fries, every kids favorite part of a McDonald's Happy Meal was the toy. These days the toys seem to be lacking in, well the toy department. It seems like you can't even really play with most of them now.

Dunkaroos

These made lunchtime the best time ever. You were everybody's best friend when you had these in your lunch.

Gel Pens

Too bad I can't submit homework using these. Hello rainbow colored notes ... and anything else I ever wrote down when I was 12.

Beanie Babies

I definitely had at least 100 of these. What kid didn't have a huge collection of these babies? No pun intended... ha.

Rainbow Choker

I honestly don't even know what these are called, but they were awesome, and I had like three of them.

Silly Putty

This was one of my favorite arcade prizes. I distinctly remember pushing this into my jeans to create the pattern in it. There were definitely better ways to use this.

Rocket Power

You also probably watched these gnarly TV shows. "Rocket Power" was one of my personal favorites.

Angry Beavers

Another one of my favorites ... OK they all were. I mean these cartoons were hysterical.

Kim Possible

Pretty sure I thought I was Kim Possible for a little while.

Now some things that are a little more relatable ... not that everyone wasn't an average high school student by day and a crime fighting red head by night.

Lizzie McGuire

I'm not ashamed to admit I have seen every single episode more than once.

Even Stevens

This show will always make me think of wingdings. If you don't understand this reference, I seriously suggest you reevaluate your life.

These are only a handful of my, and I assume many others, '90s favorites, but if I included them all this article would never end. Seriously.

Let me know what some of your favorites were in the comments below!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
