There have been Disney princesses, types of wine, and even sports teams assigned to each sorority. But now, we are taking it back to the roots of the namesake: Greece.
Alpha Delta Pi: Hera.
Queen of the goddesses and wife of the most powerful god, Zeus, Hera holds the top of the court. Often depicted with a royal lion by her side, it is no doubt that the “First. Finest. Forever.” motto of Alpha Delta Pi would draw her in. The ADPi ladies boast the highest sorority GPA on campus and were the first sorority founded, establishing their dominance from the start.
Kappa Delta: Athena. The goddess of wisdom, war, and craftiness would be proud to represent the green and white of Kappa Delta. These women seem to do it all. Not only are they in the top three GPAs on campus, but their incredible crafting abilities are sure to draw Athena in. To seal the deal, the Kappa Delta Shamrock week is one of the most ferociously advertised events on campus. KD comes armed and ready to tackle anything. Phi Mu: Aphrodite. No doubt, the goddess of love and beauty would be happy in any house, as all sorority girls at Carolina represent these traits. But the pearls and sweet “smiles to greet you” of the Phi Mu girls you want to take home to Mom and Dad will certainly claim Aphrodite as their own. These ladies also all seem to be on the path of love, since almost ten of them are already sporting diamond rings.Delta Zeta: Antheia. As the goddess of flowers, Antheia would be sold the moment she sees Delta Zeta’s Lilly Pulitzer dresses during philanthropy round. The colorful and cheerful ladies of DZ are ready to welcome Antheia into their blossoming sisterhood of pink and green.Alpha Gamma Delta: Artemis. Much like the Alpha Gamma Delta women, Artemis is a jack of all trades. She is not only the goddess of the moon, but also of hunting and nursing. No sorority is as diverse as the women of AGD, whom together can do everything, much like Artemis. Zeta Tau Alpha: Phema. The goddess of fame and gossip would love nothing more than to be crowned. ZTA seems to be a common name just about every campus recognizes. They are often doing big things involving billboards and radio ads to advertise for their popular philanthropy events, everything a fame-driven goddess like Phema would die to be a part of. Chi Omega: Kotys. Everyone has heard of the extravagant functions of Chi Omega, and everyone is dying to go to one. Not only are their social gatherings legendary, but their t-shirts are the envy of campus, and people would do anything to get one. Kotys is certainly one of those wishing to adopt the smile and pep of the Chi O girls and become a part of the wild and fun sisterhood.Delta Delta Delta: Kalypso. What better house than Delta Delta Delta for the sea nymph Kalypso. Lover of water, much like dolphins, Kaylpso would rock the yellow and blue of Tri-Delt best of all. If her love of the sea is not enough, her capture of the heart of Odysseus will parallel that of the Tri-delts winning the hearts of many with their charm and compassion. Gamma Phi Beta: Nike. The goddess of victory would be proud to join the intramural teams of Gamma Phi Beta. These ladies are beyond talented in athletic events, winning just about everything. What better place for a born champion than with the champions themselves? Pi Beta Phi: Hebe. Pi Beta Phi serves as the perfect home for the goddess of youth. The brand new chapter is still developing their story here at USC, just like that of a youngster. Their future has yet to be determined, and Hebe would be thrilled to be part of the development of this new chapter of sorority women. Kappa Kappa Gamma: Erato. This muse of lyrics and love would be drawn to Kappa Kappa Gamma. The charming ladies seem to be shuttling off to mixers and functions every weekend, something Erato knows is her calling in Greek life.
Alpha Chi Omega: Thalia. Last, but not least, the witty ladies of Alpha Chi Omega are sure to spark the attention of Thalia, the goddess of comedy. Often known for being laid-back and silly, these ladies always have a positive and light-hearted outlook on life.
Despite the lack of sororities in Grecian myths, every house can call home a Grecian goddess or two.
