Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
This Grandparents Day, I want you to feel loved and appreciated. You have loved me abundantly through all the years we have spent together; thank you so much.
Thank you for the way you have taught me about generosity and hospitality. I have been served by you many times, while I should have been the one serving you. Thank you for all the meals, treats, clean sheets, hugs, vacuumed floors and kindness. You looked after me with such selfless, servant-hearted care, and I am grateful.
Thank you for persevering. As I have grown into an adult, my view of you as shifted from ignorance to realization; you have walked a difficult path. You lived through bright, joyous moments and dark, heavy times as well, so when you encourage and teach me, you speak from experience. You let the hard times shape you into a better and stronger person instead of letting them knock you flat forever.
Thank you for all the special treatment. I love receiving notes and gifts from you, who cares about making life meaningful. Thank you for taking me to see the symphony orchestra and the animals at the zoo, for educating me in entertainment better than cartoons. Also, thanks for spoiling me, especially when my parents did not. I've received lots that I have wanted but more importantly, you provided me with support when I needed it.
Thank you for all that you have taught me: that fun outlasts the age-gap, that tenacity and hard work pays off, that curiosity opens doors, that making mistakes is necessary and beneficial, and so much more. I treasure your wise friendship and the perspective you've added to my life; I'm so glad we can laugh together but also have the most meaningful conversations.
This Grandparents Day, I thank you for all that this letter mentions, and more. Most of all, thank you so very much for your love.
With my deepest gratitude,
Your Grandchild
