Goodbye, Georgia Southern University

And thank you.

Goodbye, Georgia Southern University
Rachel Kelso

As I begin to pack my things and prepare to start my time at a new school, I’ve had waves of nostalgia and bittersweet memories run through my mind. While my time at Georgia Southern has seemed to go by in the blink of an eye, I will never forget my time here. I will always be an Eagle at heart.

The campus

I’m really going to miss the beautiful Pedestrian. No matter how much I didn’t want to walk to class, I always appreciated the beauty of this strip. There has never been a time that I haven’t smiled walking to or from class (except when the geese chase me). Sweetheart Circle will also always have my heart. This beautiful green space has been a calming escape for me. Whether I’m laying in my Eno enjoying the beautiful day or just out walking around, I will never forget Sweetheart Circle’s beauty.

The professors

I have learned so much from my professors at Georgia Southern. They always brought their unique personalities to the classroom, and I will forever appreciate that. With the exception of a few, my professors really made learning fun for me. My classes have been interesting and very hands-on.

The plaza

Freshman Rachel thanks you for all the great memories you gave me. Rude Rudy’s, Rum Runners, The Rusty Tavern, and Shenanigans housed some of the best nights of my life. I will never forget my first night out on August 16, 2014 at Rude Rudy’s. I’ll never forget the first time my freshman roommates and I went out together to Rum Runners and created an everlasting bond.

The family

The friends I made here became my family. I will be eternally grateful for their support, their love, and their friendship. We have made some incredible memories together. The parties we went to, the boys we talked to, and the bonds we had will never be forgotten. No matter where we go in life, I wish every single one of them the absolute best because they deserve it.

No matter where I end up, I’ll always GATA hard and GATA often. Thank you, Eagle Nation. See you soon.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
