When we look at a mountainous landscape, we think it's beautiful and are in awe of it's beauty. When we look at an ocean with its turquoise water, we think it's beautiful and are in awe of it's beauty too. Same goes for other landforms. But, every mountain is different. There are more trees on one than maybe the other. One might be steeper or higher than the other. One might be more treacherous and rocky than the other. Also, every ocean is different. Depending on where you are could influence the different kinds of fish that live there. Some oceans could be deeper or smaller than others. You see, everything's different. Certain things in a species are different from each other in some way, or certain landforms differ from the group of landforms they belong in. Everything God created and creates is beautiful.
Why do we always stand in awe of mountains, oceans, and other landforms, but don't stand in awe of most people and ourselves? We differ from one another just like landforms do, and yet, we tend to bash the beauty of other people and ourselves. We think that a person is more beautiful than another person, but really, we're just not embracing other people's differences. God made everything beautiful, so why are we to judge other humans and if they're "beautiful" according to our standards? We don't do that with nature, so why do it with people? Everyone differs and is unique in numerous ways, so why do we judge everyone based on standards that only maybe truly apply to one person in a world with billions of people?
This has really been on my heart lately. I've always struggled with the whole idea of beauty within myself. God has been working on me with it, and I've become more and more accepting of myself; but I feel like the key to fully accepting myself is my love of nature that God put inside my heart. When you think of yourself equal to a beautiful mountain range, or a beautiful turquoise ocean, it's hard to think of yourself as not beautiful. When you think of other people as a beautiful mountain range, or a beautiful turquoise ocean, it's hard to think they're not beautiful. You wouldn't say a mountain isn't beautiful because it was taller than others, or because it was a bit wider than others. You wouldn't say an ocean isn't beautiful because it's too blue or too big. Why do we do that with ourselves and other people then? The God that created such magnificent, beautiful scenes of nature, also created you.
