My sister Faith recently went on a mission trip to Douglas, Ariz. to learn and do work at the border. In her coming home, she told me a slogan that really stuck with me, "God has no borders."
This may not stick with everyone as I am aware that not everyone believes in God; however, I would still like to share what these words made me think.
America is said to be the land of the free and the home of the brave, but the freedom many of us hold is a limited luxury. It is only given to those who were born on this land. And to so many men and women on the outside, freedom is a fight, and to the large amount of undocumented citizens bravery is a whole other ballgame.
Why should people just the same as us, be held back by these man made borders? Why does our American dream put theirs on hold? Why can't we let freedom ring — for everyone?
If we think about the world before society, it was just a whole lot of land, so why is it okay to take away people's right to walk on it? Put yourself in the shoes of those not fortunate enough to be able to call America their home. They want simply to support their families, and/or to succeed the best they can. Where did we get the right to take away their chance? Is a birth certificate really enough to do that?
God didn't create borders, and if we think about it, he never would. He would want everyone to get equal chances. He would want success to be accessible for everyone. Borders do nothing but separate, and complicate.
Americans, ask yourself what bravery means to you.
Love is brave.
Acceptance is brave.
Kindness is brave.
YOU ARE BRAVE.
From the words of my beautiful sister, “You can't spell country without TRY?Shouldn't everyone get to?”
