Go Ahead, Flirt With My Boyfriend

I trust him, and if I shouldn't have, then you did me a favor.

Go Ahead, Flirt With My Boyfriend

Do it. Flirt with him. Laugh at his jokes a little too hard. Touch his arm when you are talking. Bat your eyelashes. Slide into his DM's.

Go ahead, flirt with my boyfriend.

This attitude might come as a surprise, but this is the way I see it.

I can't control your actions, and that would be silly to even try. I was the one who pursued James all those years ago, and so I would hope that others find him to be a catch. The difference is him and I are together now, and so I trust him to control his actions and to stay faithful.

I trust him enough to treat me, our relationship, and, most importantly, you with enough respect to not lead you on and be forthcoming with the fact that he and I are in a relationship. I trust him to draw those boundaries and to maintain them where he deems appropriate. He is a grown man and he should be able to judge these kinds of situations and then know how to conduct himself.

If he can't, then I owe you a big thank you.

Why would I want to be with someone who can't be faithful in the long run?

James and I have been together for over four years and about 2 of those years have been long distance.

While we are both still young and marriage is by no mean in our immediate future, the potential of getting married played a major role in our decision to continue our relationship long distance while we are both at college. We talk about our future a lot and we have made it clear that we both can see spending the rest of our lives together.

I am looking for a partner in life, and it would be better to know now if he is capable of doing all the things I talked about above now, rather than after we say "I Do" and start a life together.

By saying all of this, I am not saying that I never get a little jealous or am ecstatic when someone comes after him, but he is not my property. At the end of the day, I have bigger things to worry about.

I would much rather spend the limited time I have to be with and talk to him on pleasant thoughts instead of worrying about and fighting with him over the girl who comments heart-eye emoji's on his Instagram post.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
