Glamour Magazine recently put out an issue that included a list of women who "inspire them" and included Amy Schumer in a list of "plus size women." Amy has been criticized for her weight since she became super famous. Less focus on her talent and hilariousness and more focus on what dress size she can fit into. Amy has never been one to shy away from the talk either; she's more than happy to post some naked pics on her Instagram to prove her confidence.
She mentions that she is a size six to eight; the actual size of a plus-size woman in America is a size 16. That is a 10 size difference. Not that being a size 16 is an issue, but that is a completely different look than a size six, and that is a bad message to be sending out to the people of the world that not being literally "stick thin" means you're plus size. Amy had a few words to say about it in her Instagram caption saying, "Young girls seeing my body type and thinking that is plus size?"
Amy was not happy that the magazine would include her in a plus size-only issue and without even consulting her. And rightfully so. I don't really know how the whole showbiz thing works, but I would definitely have to say i's not cool to not even bother to ask someone if you can include them in a semi-insulting magazine spread. Not that being plus size is an insult, and anyone who is plus size should be confident in their bodies, but Glamour should not be confident in their magazine spread. They took someone who is a size six and made her plus size. That's literally insane, and spreads the worst message to girls everywhere. That just reinforces this whole idea that if you're not a size two, then you're obese, which isn't true. Amy honestly has a rocking body. She's confident and looks great in all of her tight-fitting dresses. A size six is normal, and even can be considered on the skinny side, no where near being overweight, let alone plus size. And now, all of these girls see that and think that being a size six isn't normal, and they should strive to be only skin and bone. There are already so many body image issues with girls and people in general nowadays, the last thing we need is someone putting size six in the plus size section.
