I constantly hear "You're hanging out with your mom again?!" or even "Didn't you just call her a few minutes ago?."
Yes, I am the type of girl who is always keeping in touch with mom 24/7. But what can I say? She's my best friend and always will be.
From the moment that she decided to carry me, that was already a promise that she would always keep me safe through thick and thin. Our arguments and disagreements made me realize that she was right about everything. Literally everything.
I know my mom always has my best interest in mind and that's why I trust her with my whole life. From life decisions to boy talk, my mom is always there to listen to me ramble and give me wisdom thanks to her younger years.
She has taught me everything I need to know about life, except how to handle certain situations which is why I still call her when I have a million questions.
Some people my age may not want to spend time with their mom, but little do they know that a mom is a forever friend. And even when they don't realize it, she always wants the best even if it comes across as if she is "fighting" or "arguing."
Unfortunately, some don't have a mom that they can share their experiences with. So if yours is still alive, please appreciate her and work things out if there isn't a very good relationship present.
Of course, my mom is a mom first and then a friend. And this is what makes me love her even more because she has taught me to respect her but not to live without her.
Cherish your mom while you still have her. I know we are young and we wouldn't want to pass an opportunity to hang out with our friends, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with making time for her. In fact, she would appreciate it.
I am not ashamed to say that my mom is my best friend. I wouldn't trade our disagreements, our long talks on the phone, and our lunch dates for anything in the world.
Life is short, go ahead and give your mom a hug.
