My biggest inspiration, not just as a model, but as a person, is Gisele Bundchen. I watched an interview of her on CBS as she retired from the runaway and talked about her modeling career.
The thing that fascinated me the most about her was her genuine honesty. Her honesty showed when she acknowledged her beauty and received compliments well but stated that modeling has nothing to with your looks. The most forgotten aspect about modeling is the models' attitude. Her work ethic goes beyond her looks and that is how her career was formed. She demonstrated the importance of following through by creating exactly what the photographer envisioned. Her determined personality is what made her career so successful and that is what I admire so much about Gisele.
In photos, people just see a pretty girl posing in front of a camera; little do they know, to be a successful model, you have to shoot in hundred to zero degrees weather and make it look good without complaining—and that is exactly what Gisele did. The humility she demonstrated in the interview came from her ability to separate the persona she puts on for modeling and her goofy tomboy self. That gave her the attitude that attracted the whole modeling industry. I love that she understands that her attitude and personality overrules her looks, but she also understands that the other half of her success was due to being at the right place at the right time.
Luck doesn’t come without constant hard work, she earned that luck. Gisele worked hard for five years working her way up the latter and finally earned her spot on the cover of American Vogue. Since then has been earned more money than any other model in addition to being more magazine covers than any other model. Not only that, but she changed the face of modeling by not following the grain and becoming either a catalogue model or vogue model but took a chance by signing a 44 million contract with Victoria’s Secret by the age of 20. That is where luck is deserved. But above all of her modeling success, she had an interesting saying that I live by “the quality of your life depends on the quality of your relationships”. It is so interesting to me that Gisele is able to have such a good head on her shoulders in every aspect of her life. She realizes at the end of the day the most important thing is to create good relationships with a balance of love, trust and support.
