While recently watching She's The Man, a popular soccer movie starring Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum, I noticed that the movie can also explain girls lacrosse in more ways than one. Although soccer is a completely separate sport, there are similarities between it and lacrosse. I thought it would be appropriate to use She's The Man to make a correlation with girls lacrosse since the sports are so similar. And, this is a very good movie I recommend everyone watches.
1. When the sun is out, and you have to blindly catch a ball.
Lacrosse is a sport all about catching a little yellow in the air with a stick. Don't get me wrong, I love sunlight and everything but definitely not when I'm trying to play a lacrosse game. The ball gets too lost in the sun and 1/10 times I'm able to catch it.
2. When you get hit in the face with a ball, so a tampon is used to stop a bloody nose.
Having an entire team of girls means at least one of them has a tampon on hand. Out of bandaids? Get hit in the face with a ball? Have a random bloody nose? Use a tampon.
3. When your team becomes best friends and too much information is shared.
The girls on your team will soon become some of your best friends. And you will tell them everything from serious stuff to funny stuff to personal stuff that nobody else knows.
4. Coach when you get injured during a game or practice.
Power through the pain!
5. Getting very excited when you score a goal.
Goals are what win a game. You're just going to celebrate every time the ball sails past the goalie and into the net.
6. Executing the perfect play that completely confuses the opposing team.
When a play finally works during a game, it's a great feeling. But you don't want the other team to catch on... so shhh.
7. When you have to run for the first time since last season.
HA. We all say we are going to stay in shape during the off-season, but let's be honest that won't ever happen. Then, that first practice, conditioning or open gym of the year kicks your butt and you regret everything.
8. When you're trying to get out of the way and avoid being run over by other players.
While on offense, the space in front of the goal can be clogged with your teammates cutting through it with defenders following. Everyone is looking for an open shot or a pass, so it can become chaotic. Sometimes you just feel like you're in the way during the mess and do your best to not ruin a play or perfect shot.
9. When you eat like no tomorrow after practices and games.
Running around a field for two hours means it's time to stuff your face with food.
10. How you think you look when getting new spirit wear or uniforms.
Look at me!! Look at my new clothes I will wear every single day!!
