To The Girl Who Settles For Less

You deserve the world, so go out and take it.

You deserve all the love in the world. Be confident enough in yourself to know that. I know it's hard, but learning to love yourself first will change your life.

Stop letting other people walk all over you. Your opinion is valued and welcome just as much as the opinions of others. Don't let them quiet your voice, not even for a second.

Don't go out with that boy just because he says you're pretty. Wait for someone who thinks the stars shine brighter when you're around. Have faith that he exists because when the time is right, he'll come and sweep you off your feet.

Remember that there are more good days than bad. For every tear you shed, there will be a hundred smiles to come. Don't think for a moment that you won't make it out of the darkness.

Be the girl who only sees the sunshine, who proudly wears rose-colored glasses. Even if it seems fake, smile more than you frown. Trust me, you'll be better for it.

Know the type person you want to be and go out and make yourself better. There is always room for change, even if it isn't exactly welcome. Sometimes it takes a little push to see your full potential.

Don't be afraid to be alone. Knowing yourself is an amazing thing, so don't underestimate it. Be sure of who you are and what you want, and take some time to be completely you.

Your presence means the world to the people who love you. Don't ever listen to the demons that tell you otherwise. If someone makes you feel unwanted, kick them to the curb; life is too short to be wasted on mean girls and selfish guys.

Find your passions and seek them unapologetically. The people who think you're crazy or weird are jealous that you found true happiness. Strive to be the best at doing what you love, and you'll find yourself in amazing places.

You are incredibly beautiful. When you realize that looks matter less than heart, you'll be thankful. Stop focusing on what you see in the mirror and start focusing on how you can share your beauty with others.

It's still cool to love your family. They have loved you for your entire life and will love you for the rest of it. Don't stop believing that they are the center of your world, because they should be.

Most of all, stop getting in the way of yourself. When you focus on what's to come as much as you focus on what is here, you'll realize that your life is amazing. Stop settling for less and be the girl that people can't help but admire.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
