You are the girl who always wants the people around her to be happy. You have problems saying no. People always know they can count on you. You give too many second chances and always see the best in people. However, you are also the girl who is devastated in the end when the boy doesn't turn out as great as you thought he would. You are the girl who gets hurt because you believed he or she would never (insert harmful activity here).
It's time to stand up for yourself. You deserve it.
In life, you were told to never be selfish and to always put the happiness of others first... but at what cost to you? When is it acceptable to put yourself first? Now. Choose yourself when no one else will. Choose yourself when others do not see your potential. Choose yourself when you get hurt in the crossfire.
There will always be people in your life that test you. There will always be people that do more harm in your life than good. Maybe that is an ex-boyfriend or an ex-best friend. Now that you have realized how toxic those relationships are, you can spend time on you.
When you decide to spend time on you, you must stop seeking the approval of those whose opinions do not matter. The only people you should try and please are yourself and God. These are the only people who deserve your approval. That isn't to say that you should never be compassionate and caring towards others. However, you should never let anyone else dictate your happiness.
Happiness is a choice that only you can make. You must find what will make you happy and choose that happiness. Nothing will ever make you happy unless you choose to be happy.
You have to find what makes you happy. You can do this by spending time by yourself. Do things alone that you enjoy. Take the time out of your day to find out who you are and who you want to be. When you focus on yourself, you are able to grow as a person, as a Christian, as a family member, etc. These personal growths will bring you happiness longer than the approval or geniality of others ever will. Now is the time to decide for yourself what you want to become and then do it. As cheesy and overused as it sounds, you can do anything. You should be able to take the time that you need to become the person that you want to be.
It is not until you take the time to realize your own self-worth and are truly happy with yourself, that you will surround yourself with people who deserve to have you in their life. When you are happy with yourself and your life, you will understand who deserves a place in it.
Whatever you decide to do and wherever life takes you, remember that you are worth it. Forego those toxic relationships in order to focus on yourself. In the end, it is you who will choose to be happy. So go on, and find what that happiness is. Grow as a person, and find new relationships to nurture that are worth your time.
