Let's face it, being a girl is tough. There is so much pressure in the world telling us that we have to be the best. Every day we wake up and put on a smiling face even when sometimes we don't want to. I hope this article makes you want to today.
Stop comparing yourself.
There's a quote by Theodore Roosevelt that says, "Comparison is the thief of joy." I seem to see this quote everywhere, especially on Pinterest, and it has continued to be a favorite of mine because it could not be truer. Every time you walk to class and you see a pretty girl, you automatically compare yourself to her. We only look at the things she has; whether it be her chic outfit or the way her hair is perfectly waved; she's instantly better than us. Why do we do this to ourselves? The truth is that every girl that we compare ourselves to is comparing herself to us too. It is a never ending cycle until we learn to love ourselves. So the next time you see a pretty girl walking from class, remind yourself that you're beautiful because she's probably thinking you're beautiful too.
Don't listen to your negative thoughts.
We all have negative thoughts here and there; it's a part of life. The goal is to not let those thoughts ruin all that is good in your life. Bad thoughts are normally irrational and not thought out, so try to analyze your problems and create a solution rather than being hard on yourself. Sometimes, late at night, we get sad and emotional, but you have to remember that you complete the world. Lives around you would not be the same if you were not around, so try and kill those bad things you say about yourself; they only bring you down further.
Look how far you've come, not how far you have left to go.
When you continue to degrade yourself, the road ahead doesn't look like a pleasant one. But you have been through so much already. You have overcome the awkwardness of middle school, the self-discovery of high school, and now the workload of college -- and you still don't think you're good enough? With all that you have been through, give yourself some credit. Life is hard, and it will continue to be. Always appreciate what you've done for your own benefit and never sell yourself short.
You have more going for you than against you.
Sometimes you feel alone and sometimes you feel as if the whole world is against you, but it's not. The only thing holding you back is yourself. We might think that we aren't good enough for the career we want, the friends who care for us, or the relationship we cherish, but most of the struggles we face are ones that we create ourselves. If you apply for a job that you love and you end up not getting it, it is their loss. You will find another job you're crazy about, I promise. Just remember when the going gets tough, you have your friends and family to back you up. You will never not have people to support you.
Everyone has felt this way before.
Everyone has low points, so don't let anyone tell you that there is something wrong with you. You are loved, you are not alone in this battle, and you ARE enough... always.
P.S. Listen to this song.
