Growing up we were taught to either 1. never ever get a tattoo or 2. at least get a tattoo you can cover up. So naturally, being the people-pleaser I am, I never wanted a tattoo - let alone one that would constantly be public and one that I couldn't cover up with any clothing. Except for maybe gloves, because once I hit the twenties I just had to say "screw it!" So I am now the girl with the mustache tattoo and I could not be more proud! Here are some common things to about when considering getting a tattoo and why getting a mustache on my finger was actually an amazing idea.

Tattoos in the workplace

I have heard so many different points about this topic but I will try to give you now some basic facts that many people and businesses agree with. First of all, businesses are changing their views on tattoos recently due to...

1.) Grooming and attire seem to be of more importance in the hiring process than the showing of tattoos.

2.) Professionals have realized their tattoos make them more approachable, encouraging dialog.

Now here are some facts that show that the showing of tattoos can have a negative effect on business.

1.) Consumers prefer non-tattooed employees in the front-line staff.

2.) Tattoos that encourage violence or confrontation deters customers from returning to the business.

Tattoos over time

Whether you gained weight or lost weight or aged or had a baby, over time majority of tattoos will change in appearance. That's a given but that does not necessarily mean that they will be ugly with time.

When getting a tattoo, you need to be aware of what the field you are planning on going into expects of you when it comes to tattoos and attire and you have to be aware that if a tattoo is degrading in any way, it's sexist, racist, vulgar, violent, many jobs will NOT hire you.

Here's the thing about tattoos. Whether it has a meaning or not it will be a part of you FOREVER! So when I got my mustache tattoo I knew people would see it and think, "She'll regret that in two years" but ultimately, though they won't make it known this small tattoo that I sat for two slightly uncomfortable but not painful minutes to get, might be that one little bit of light and joy they need that day. And it's worth it! Yes, I do have to get it touched up like every six months and go through it again but every time is completely worth it! I want to be a light in the darkness. And for me, my faith in God is what brings me peace and happiness and I just want to share it! And if this silly tattoo can bring that to others then it was two minutes well spent! The meaning and purpose of my mustache tattoo is to be a light and to not only inspire others to let loose a little bit, but also remind myself not to take life so stinking seriously! So I dare you guys this week, to allow yourself to just be happy! DO IT!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
