To the girl who conquered this semester,

First and foremost, congratulations! You did it. I know a huge weight is lifted off your shoulders. Now, it's time to soak up the sun and relax. You've worked hard and you deserve it.

Maybe you had a difficult semester because of the homework load? The stress? Life changes? Anxiety? Family issues? Whatever the case may be, I know it was tough. I know there were times when you didn't think you were going to get through it. I know that you questioned yourself and feared what the future had in store for you. But guess what? You did it. You got through it.

More importantly, you are not alone. There are so many girls who can relate. There are so many girls who struggled. There are so many girls who questioned themselves and wondered, "Am I going to get through this? Am I ever going to see the light at the end of the tunnel?"

I was one of those girls.

In the last five months or so, I questioned myself more than I ever have. I feared there wasn't enough time in the day to get everything done, despite the fact that I was organized and managed my time well. I felt the weight of stress. I didn't see the light at the end of any tunnel until three weeks ago. I struggled, and I know I didn't do it with much grace. But guess what? I did it. I got through it. And at the end of the day, I was successful.

I was also able to reflect as a student and as a person; tough semesters usually help you do that. If you had a rough semester, think of it as a blessing. Reflect on what you did well, and what you didn't. Let yourself be proud of everything you accomplished. Tell yourself that you are better because of the adversity. Be happy for yourself.

You may have another tough semester in the future, but just remember one thing: you did it before, and you can do it again.

Sincerely,

A Girl Who Conquered This Semester, Too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
