So it's springtime, which means it is prom season! For many high schoolers, this is one of the biggest events of their high school social life. Pretty big deal, huh? As exciting as it may seem, it can also be very stressful if you do not plan accordingly and wing it. So here I am to help you out and have the best prom ever! Here is my checklist of things to get done in order to make prom as easy as possible!

1. Make sure you feel amazing in your dress (and have the right alterations)

So the biggest aspect of prom is your outfit, therefore you need to feel like a million bucks in it and that doesn't mean spending that much. Don't worry about buying a crazy expensive dress, just choose one that you feel absolutely amazing in! Also, make sure that you get all the right alterations done because that also will affect how you look and feel in it.

2. Don't stress if you have a date or not

A lot of girls think that if they don't have a date to prom than the night automatically won't be as fun. If you are going with a date, then that's great, just make sure you are going for the right reasons and not just the corsage and pictures. Go with a significant other, good friend, you name it just make sure you are happy with who you are going with. And if you're going stag don't worry! You're still going to have a blast.

3. Make plans set in stone, so there aren't any hiccups

Alright, so by now most of your plans should be complete, but if not take the time to do so. You will be so thankful you did this after the night is over because you won't be nearly as stressed as you might be if the plans are a bit wishy-washy. Know how you're getting there and back, where pictures are, what the plan is for after, etc. Everything will be 10 times easier if you do so.

4. Appointments, appointments, appointments

Prom is huge, therefore everywhere will ultimately be booked up if you wait until the day before to call and try to get yourself in. So take the time to call your hairdresser, book a mani-pedi, order the boutonniere/corsage. Otherwise, you may be on your own, sister!

5. Have a spa day/night

Invite your besties over and treat yourselves! This is so important because you need to feel your best in order to go into an event like this. So buy face masks, watch your favorite movies, and just pamper yourselves in preparation for a night to remember.

6. Hit the gym

7. Care for yourself mentally

This sort of goes along with number 6, but if you feel mentally prepared then you will have a much better time at the dance than you would if you did not do so. Take time for yourself, breathe and just remember how much fun you will have with your favorite people.

8. HAVE FUN!

Ultimately this is your night, therefore don't hold yourself back. Take all those pictures, dance with your besties, and have the most amazing night:)

I hope all the high school seniors reading this have an amazing prom night, I'll see you there!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
