Getting Into Watching Basketball? How to Keep Up With Your Favorite Teams

Are you just getting into basketball? Now is the perfect time, with the start of training camp and the new season just around the corner. However, new fans can struggle to keep up with the action on and off the court. There are a lot of players and teams to keep track of that it can feel overwhelming when you're just getting into it. These three tips will make sure you never miss a game or headline.

Follow All Relevant Social Media

Social media is the perfect way for fans to stay connected with their favorite teams and players and follow league news.

First, you should follow the league, your favorite teams, and your favorite players on Twitter. The league will tweet out any potential schedule changes and any relevant league-wide news. Teams often tweet about player transactions. Did your team make a splash in the free-agent market or pull off a marquee trade? They'll surely tweet about it to keep fans like you up to date. Many players also post from their own accounts from time to time, occasionally stirring up drama with whatever is on their minds.

You'll also want to find relevant reporters to follow stories as they develop. As a signing or trade is developing, reporters often tweet about their takes. The first scoop is often a Twitter post, with reporter Adrain Wojnarowski being the gold standard when it comes to breaking news.

You can also follow your favorite teams or players on Instagram and Tik Tok. While these platforms focus more on entertainment than reporting, it's still a good idea to find your favorite teams and players on these apps as well. They can provide a valuable behind-the-scenes look at the NBA's biggest stars and can help you get to know their personalities.

Watch Your Team's Games Live

As a fan, watching the game is what it's all about. There aren't many better things than kicking back and checking out your hometown team running the court. Watching it all unfold live is ideal. When you're watching a game live, it's guaranteed you won't miss a single moment. It won't be long until you're making basketball-related memories. Long-time fans remember exactly where they were when big moments occurred. You can even get into making predictions about your favorite teams when watching live games. Sites like Sports Tips can help you get started.

Watch Highlights of Other Teams

For other teams, you can easily catch the most spectacular moments via highlight packages posted on social media. That's another reason it's so important to follow them on Twitter. Social media makes it easy to be a basketball fan. Follow the account most relevant to you and enjoy watching the beautiful game of basketball.

If you are a new basketball fan, there are many ways to get even more into every game. Use the above tips for keeping up with your favorite teams and make basketball season even more fun to be involved in.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
