When we go off to college, there is a load of responsibility placed on our shoulders. We have to keep up with our classes and maintain new and old friendships, not to mention doing our own laundry and making sure we are managing all of our "free" time well. With all of that, it can be easy to push going to the gym to the back burner. It's not really on the top of our priority list, especially when we wake up before class and it's a bit chilly outside or after a long day of non-stop work. Well, if you can connect to anything I just said, you came to the right place. Need a little motivation to make the trek to the gym? My friends from "High School Musical" are here to make it all better!

Sharpay hits the nail on the head here! Why can’t we all be blessed with a year-round bikini body if our favorite hobbies include midday napping to get our beauty sleep and midnight snacking to satisfy our sweet tooth? All we can do now is put the work in, and our body will be thanking us later! Now it’s time to hit the gym!
The problem with the walk to the gym, no matter how long it is, is that it gives us ample time to turn around and decide to go another day – which ends up never coming. Just know, the hard work will pay off. I promise! Don’t look back. Listen to KayCee, and just know, it really will be fine!
Need some more motivation to take each step closer to the door? Troy and Gabriela say it like it is here in this candid and completely natural song breakout session. Everything you do to be active will make you a healthier person, even if you start out by just walking on the treadmill for a while! You got this!
I will not lie, it can be really intimidating to scan the room and see people barely breaking a sweat as they run for an hour. Even more so when you hear the heavy breathing of the guys lifting their body weight in barbells as they admire themselves and their toned arms in the mirrored walls. Just know, you made it here, and that is the hardest part!
We get on the machine and start breaking a sweat, but it feels good. That is, for a while. And then we look down at the timer and see we have only been here for five minutes. A small tear may roll down your cheek, but keep pushing. It will pay off! Exercising releases endorphins throughout the body and make a person feel happier – I know, that sounds like the biggest oxymoron, but hear me out. The good feelings will come soon!
All done with your workout? Great job! But as you make the trek back to your dorm, and even more so when you wake up the next day, this is probably along the lines of what you are thinking. Even though you may be a bit sore, it is all going towards making you a healthier person! Your muscles are toning and your stamina is building each time you work out! We may be in the pain stage, but the gain stage is right around the corner!
Before you know it, going to the gym will become an integral part of your weekly or daily routine, to the point where it will feel weird if you miss it! It definitely takes time to get there, but it will come. You truly will embody Troy Bolton in this “Bet On It” scene. Exercising will make you just an overall happier person and you will honestly carry yourself in a more self-assured manner.
Going to the gym may not sound like the most glorified activity, especially when you have to make the walk there from your dorm in the dead of winter. However, take it from someone who went twice in one semester and now makes it a part of my daily routine, there are so many great things that come from it! Get someone to go with you or maybe try out a fun class, like Zumba or Cardio Kickboxing (my new favorite) to spice things up a bit!
